Define Creative Solution Spaces to Challenging Problem Spaces
Enigma - A thing that is difficult to explain or understand
Cypher - The code or mathematics that can reveal the answer
The birth of the modern era of computing came partly from the cat and mouse game between the German Enigma machine and the first (partially) programmable digital electronic computer designed to break the code: the UK Colossus (the US ENIAC was the first general purpose programmable digital electronic computer). The Colossus could process 5,000 characters per second (25k for the Mark II). Fast forward to today where we have laptops, tablets, phones, and watches which are orders of magnitude faster enabling new frontiers of art and entertainment.
While computational devices are at the center of our business and financial world, we also all partake in various forms of recreational computing (from Minecraft and Roblox to Netflix and YouTube). The general purpose digital electronic computers of the modern era are virtually inseparable to our society - tools for work and play.
In work and play, I find purpose and enjoyment in helping to demystify these digital foundational elements all around us so that more of us can make the computers work for our overall enjoyment and drive humanity towards a better future.
